Several weeks ago, I wrote about Alicia, the super teenager who is doing 6 races and trying to raise $6,000 for the Children’s Assessment Center. Well, here’s the update!
Not only has Alicia reached her goal of $6,000- she has raised $13,200 to date!!!!! But that’s not the only thing that makes her super. She has also gone through major surgery and is on the other side still smiling!
A few weeks ago she went to the ER with severe abdominal pain. After tests and scans, they ended up finding a cyst the size of a soft ball that had to be removed immediately! The results came back non-cancerous- PRAISE GOD- and she is recovering well! She missed the first week of school, but started a few days late in a wheel chair. She’ll have to miss her next scheduled race, but I’m sure she’ll add an extra one at the end of her schedule. And now she has even more motivation- over $13,000- enough to help 13 other kids through the Children’s Assessment Center program.
I was talking and laughing with Alicia on the phone just days after her surgery. How in the world could a soft ball size cyst hide inside her? She’s pretty thin! We decided that she’s a super athlete, a super fundraiser, and a super cyst maker!!! Everything she does, she does well. Gotta love that type of girl!
