Week 15 is done- another 178 miles! It’s so cool to be in Arizona- almost to Tempe where the race starts. Too bad that after training all the way to Tempe that I still have to fly to get there for race day!
The workouts are getting longer and longer. The worst part isn’t the hunger this year. I’m doing a better job of eating all day, and I’m not getting up during the night to eat- at least not every night. The two hardest things are 1. starting every workout on tired legs and 2. feeling a lack of excitement because I’m getting worn down. These aren’t new. They happened the last two times. I just don’t feel like myself when I don’t start every workout with a smile on my face and a bounce to my step. : ) But I know this is normal for the “push to the finish”. These are long, hard weeks that will be my foundation on race day. And the nice thing about race day is that I’ll be starting on fresh legs that are well rested from a 3 week taper!!!!! Oh, the glorious taper is coming!!!!
I need to stay focused on the kids that I’m helping get a family because of this race. That’s why I do this. I have kid pictures on my bike to remind me to pray for them and for others who still need homes. I remind myself daily, “This is not about me.” I’m focused on my goal of raising $15,000. It’s getting closer each week. I’d like to share two quotes that will be my focus this week. I hope they will inspire you too.
Daryl Britton “One day I want to stand before God sweaty, tired, and broke because I invested my life and resources in the kingdom of God and for the benefit of others.”
John Wesley ” Do all the good you can by all the means you can in all the ways you can in all the places you can at all the times you can to all the people you can as long as ever you can.”
