Welcome to another week of the Virtual Ironman Journey. We have completed our first adoption journey- using only exercise- from Ethiopia to Grand Rapids, MI. Then we completed our second adoption journey from Haiti to Grand Rapids. Now we are starting our THIRD journey from Colombia back to Michigan. We have already exercised an unbelievable 10,980 miles. But we still have 11 weeks left! And that’s good news for all of you walkers and runners on our team. Don’t get discouraged that a lot of our team has already finished. Many of them are bikers. It’s a LOT easier and faster to bike 140.6 miles than to run or walk it. Try swimming 140.6……. now that would take a long time! Keep persevering! The goal is to finish. You have until Nov. 1 at midnight.
I’d like to introduce you to one of my good friends, Jennie Nichols, and her kids! They are all three on the Virtual Ironman team (and her husband is one of our Team Orphans business sponsors with America’s One Title Agency). Jennie is one of my prayer warriors and puts together a prayer team for each one of my Ironman races. I’d love for you to join us this year. Here’s how it works: It takes me about 14 hours to complete the Ironman. Jennie has people sign up for a 30 minute spot and has specific requests for the times I will swim, bike, and run. Pray for me a couple times during your half hour. It really helps me to I know that I’m covered in prayer during the whole race! My hubby, Tom, will give Jennie a few updates throughout the day and she will email them to the prayer team. It has been amazing to see God’s answers to prayer in my last three races- no flat tires, biking 112 miles with a horrible cramp in one calf, getting my inhaler just in time on the run, encouraging a young dad to spend time with his kids, etc. Let me know if you’d like to join my prayer team and I’ll give Jennie your email.
