I’m VERY, VERY proud to introduce you to another 2015 Virtual Ironman member- Storm Cruttenden! I know I’m partial, since he’s my baby, but I think he just has to be the cutest dog I’ve ever seen!
I was completely taken “by storm” when I received an email the week before Christmas. It was from his breeder passed on from Ben Gandy.( I’ve been running Ben’s two Aussies, Rocket and Winston, for the last year. ) The email went something like this: “Looking for a good home for a 6 month old male Red Tri. He’s crate trained, house broken, and has a very laid back personality.” This was the picture in the email that completely changed my world forever. Just look at those freckles!
I had no idea how much I could love a dog. I’ve been an animal lover my whole life, and especially a cat lover, but now I am forever a dog lover too. It all started last year when I began running with Rocket and Winston. Now, Storm and I go for a 1-2 mile run or walk every morning and a half mile walk every night. He likes the Cannon Trail the best, but he also likes the White Pine Trail, Luten Park, and the neighborhood down the road. At night, we walk through the pasture next to our house looking for rabbits and mice. Storm really prefers the winter- look at his coat! He LOVED running every day in February, but he’ll still run with me now as long as it’s early in the morning or late at night.
He does get a little tired after our runs, so he really enjoys his post-run naps. ( I sent this picture to the New Balance company.)
Storm’s other hobbies, besides running with me, are snuggling Sasha,
licking the bowl after I make peanut butter protein cookies,
finishing our ice cream cones,
pre-washing the dishes
hanging out with his best friend, Stanley,
helping Mom with her work
cooling off in his pool,
and chilling in front of his personal fan.
Dogs, especially Australian Shepherds, need a job to do. So Storm has several jobs he takes very seriously. He takes the kids to school, picks them up from school, takes them to work, and picks them up from work. He especially likes picking up Sasha from Mr. Burger because a left over french fry always jumps out of Sasha’s pocket when he gets in the van!
But as we all know, sometime work can be very exhausting!
Storm is very happy to be on the Virtual Ironman team this year! He has already walked and run 93 miles, and he’s having a blast! He and Stanley are the only dogs on the team this year, but he hopes they will inspire other canines to join next year. Storm told me to tell you his motto: “Run hard, Rest often, Love much, and Don’t forget the peanut butter”.
