Ankle surgery, cookie business, and Ironman Wisconsin- I’m not sure all three of these things will be happening this year. I I do know that Clara Cookies are almost ready to hit the market. And I also know that I need surgery on my left ankle to repair a tendon tear. Urgh…. I’m just not sure that Ironman Wisconsin is going to happen. Maybe a swim, bike, walk?
Good news! Clara Cookies will be in stores SOON!
We have our bakery. We have volunteer cookie bakers. Our cookie pouches are ordered. Our nutrition panels are completed. I have the heat sealer for sealing the cookie wrappers. We have four stores committed to carrying Clara Cookies-
I have upcoming meetings with two more potential stores. I’d like to start with 6 stores and online sales, then add stores one at a time as we grow. Check out our website at www.claracookies.com. In case you haven’t heard, Clara Cookies are my protein cookies out to compete with Clif Bars and Luna Bars. Every dollar of profit will be donated to Team Orphans adoption grants.
The not so good news is that I need surgery on my left ankle. I turned it on some uneven ground just a few weeks before my Ironman last September. It was really hurting during the race, but I finished in record time so I was excited. : ) I took a couple weeks off from running, tried a month of physical therapy, but it was still hurting. I got an MRI in January that shows the tear. I’ve taken more time off, but it’s not getting better. So…….. as much as I hate to admit it, I need the surgery.
This cute little doctor guy is pointing to the place where the tendon is torn. When the doctor starts cutting on me, he’s not going to be so cute anymore! I don’t have the surgery date yet, but it will be in the next month or two. He’s booked out till May, but hopefully he can get me in sooner. The sooner I have it, the sooner I can heal! I’d rather miss running in the next few cold, rainy months than the sunshine of the summer. Those of you who know me, know I LOVE to run in the heat!
So……… Ironman Wisonsin on September 11 may not happen this year. I’m already registered, so we’ll just wait and see. Maybe I’ll be out for the seaon. But maybe I’ll be able to swim, bike, and walk……or swim, bike, run a little, walk a lot, run a little, walk a lot. How long does it take to walk a marathon? For all my Ironman prayer partners out there, don’t stay up that late!!!
Being the goal person that I am, I always need a goal. So right now my goal is to focus on Clara Cookies and being a business woman. But, that being said, I’m still an athlete and I need an athletic goal. If my surgery ends up being after our Spring Break trip to St. Thomas, I’m going to do an island to island swim. It’s on my bucket list- swim from St. Thomas to St. John. It’s 3.4 miles of beautiful crystal clear water over coral reefs.
Tom can come beside me in a little boat to help guide me, feed me along the way, and bring me back. I figure it’s a win- win. If my surgery is later, I can do my island swim this year. If I get in for surgery in March, then Tom will have to take me back to St. Thomas another time to swim!!!!! : ) Not a bad deal. The other things on my bucket list? That’s another blog for another time. There are three other things on the list- something to do with dolphins, helicopters, and radio.
